  • Project Life 2012 Week #12

Another great week of Project Life celebrating an ordinary week. I love celebrating the ordinary. Every week when I sit down to work on my project and fill out my journaling cards, I realize that the is so much extraordinary in the ordinary days. It’s the everyday moments that my children will remember the most when they leave our home. And that is worth celebrating.

Here’s the layout including my weekly card that I write to the kids. I will print off several of my blog posts from last week and put them into 6 x 12 page protectors. I’m waiting on my friendly UPS man to deliver some oversized Canon photo paper.

This was a special week as Emily swam in the Arizona State Championships for 8 & Unders. She did fabulous. Her relay teams won the Gold Medal in both the 100 Free and 100 Medley relays. She’s pretty talented, but I was most excited to see how much fun she had. And Jeff and I were both nervous wrecks. We love the environment and competition. We will probably need medication in the future. I’m not kidding. I’m that cheering parent. Poor Emily.

The yellow paper and tape are both from Smash supplies I bought at Michaels. The #12 is from Elle’s Studio and the flair button is from Ormolu.

Love that I’m including more “story” pictures. I had fun messing around with my camera at the swim meet. I was coveting another parent’s 70-200 mm lens. I only have a wide angle lens, but one day the Swim Fairy will buy me that lens, as he knows that is what is missing for the perfect Project Life page.

And last, I always include a weekly letter to my kids. I write different things each week. Most of the time I write each child a separate 2-3 sentence message of encouragement or something related to a lesson we are teaching, learning, etc. But sometimes I write a message to them about something I am learning or experiencing. I had a couple people email me and ask me to show some more of my letters. When they are appropriate and reflect more about me (than them), I will be happy to include my messages. At the end of the year, I take the letters out of the Project Life box and put them into a storage box that sits on our living room shelf as they read them over and over.

Speaking of story, I posted earlier this morning about everyone having a story. I was really convicted about offering more compassion to others instead of rushing to judgement. Go here to read it. It will be well worth your time.

What a wonderful week! Congrats to Emily – I love seeing all of that blue/water this week. My Project Life mojo has come up missing. I hope to get out of this funk soon. Like you, I’ve done so well with staying caught up. Happy 12 weeks to you!!

Ha! Love your project life as usual. I’m 11 weeks behind. Yep, 11 weeks. Pretty sad, isn’t it? I had to laugh when I read the comment about you needing meds. My Emilie had a really big cheer competition a few weeks ago and I made my stomach upset worrying for the team. I was more nervous than them I think. They got 2nd place though, which was a big accomplishment. Have a great evening!

really lovely pages, always love seeing how well your children are doing in sports (my son is 5.5 and plays tennis really well, so i expect we’ll be having to travel a lot to competitions etc too!!). love the fact that you include letters to your children – i tend to see our PL as a love letter to them both but realize i should include letters addressed directly to them in there too…..

I really love your pages Jenny! I see that you did some journaling right on the picture – I also did that this week. I like how yours turned out better :)
