  • 39 List – Our Blue Lily Family Photo Shoot

Our first ever photo shoot… big sigh. I’m in love. I love the lighting, the colors, and these kids. I really love these kids. I’m so thankful that Wendy and Tyler of Blue Lily Photography captured our family just how I see us… full of life, smily, colorful, loud, and loving. I wrote about our experience with Blue Lily here, but let me tell you once more.

Our photo shoot was effortless. Jeff and I loved Wendy and Tyler. I left the photoshoot totally inspired. Wendy and Tyler sold their house and all of their possessions, and are traveling the world with their 2 gorgeous children while taking pictures and video. Yes, please.

So since this is our first photo shoot, I am refusing to apologize for overloading you with photos. Hopefully I don’t make your computer irritable.

So Jeff and I definitely felt empowered after our visit and have decided to follow their lead on a smaller scale. We are selling many of our belongings and home and traveling in an RV this summer. We talk about our decision here. We would go longer if it weren’t for Rebecca starting high school in the fall. Darn kid.

Rebecca is possibly the best judge of character. She is very personable but rather quiet and doesn’t let people in very easily to her inner circle. So it speaks volumes to me that she asked twice about when Wendy and Tyler are coming into town so that we can take them to dinner. She is even joining Instagram so she can follow their international adventures. Sigh.

We decided though that after our experience with Blue Lily Photo that we will get our pictures taken annually (or semiannually if I have any control over the matter).  I don’t want to shell out advice, but try to make family pictures a priority. What a tremendous blessing. And I can not recommend Blue Lily high enough. Check out their site with their international travel schedule, which makes me smile even more. I dream of Wendy taking my pictures in New York City, Tokyo, London, Paris, Berlin. Who am I kidding? I want her to take our family pictures everywhere! The video is still being edited, but I will be thrilled to share it as soon as we receive it.

    Which is your favorite?

    Blessings sweet friends – Jenny

This was on my  39 list – 39 things from my life list that I want to complete before I turn 39 on November 20, 2012.

If you are new to my site, welcome! Like what you see? I would love for you follow along on this crazy adventure of mine by subscribing to my blog and joining me on facebook, twitter, and pinterest.

I love them all!!!! These pictures are so beautiful! They are very talented photographers, and you guys are pretty darn photogenic! The lighting is just gorgeous!

The lighting is one of my favorite things about the picture. It truly was the golden hour.

Thanks Kerry. That’s precisely how I feel. I’m indeed blessed.

Oh WOW! You just can’t beat the light in “the golden hour”, but oh my goodness! These are amazing! I can HEAR you and your children giggling! I don’t see a family photo shoot … I see a family having fun just being together (and someone just happened to capture it on film perfectly). My favorite one? The 5th one down (first one of you all standing in a field). That photo belongs (a) in a magazine; (b) in Blue Lily’s promotions materials; and (c) blown up (extra-large) and hanging on a prominent wall in your house! Congrats on another item from “the list”. GO JENNY GO!

#5 is one of my favorites, too. And there was an incredible amount of giggling and laughter that day. I still smile thinking about that afternoon.

I love them all, but there’s something about the 6th one down that captured my heart. I love how the interaction between the family. I really love the colors you chose, too. #2 down & the bubbles picture are also faves of mine. :)

The 6th picture truly does capture our family pretty perfectly. We are not much of a posed family. And I love bright and bold colors. I’ve never been much into matching outfits or pale colors.
Wendy did such an amazing job. I’m still in heaven.

We are looking at visiting Toronto if possible after going to Niagra. Jeff has some family in that area.

      12 March 2012 at 10:47 pm Reply

My favorites? The one of you and Jeff in the field, and the family shot where everyone is laughing, and the shot where Sam looks all bashful and is hiding her face in your lap. These are amazing, and your family’s personality absolutely SHINES through!

I am in awe of your big decision to sell the house and travel. It makes my stomach hurt to even think about it…I’m a homebody more than I even knew, I think. I will live vicariously through your adventures, though, and I will love it!

The details seem to make it overwhelming at times, but then I breathe and think about all the positives and I just can’t wait to go!

Choose a favorite, are you kidding me? I love them all. Seriously amazing! You are one crazy gorgeous family!! :)

But since you asked – I have 2 faves. I love 2 and 6. I must have totally missed that you are selling your house too. Traveling this summer is going to be unforgettable. Thanks for sharing your photos!

The one with the bubbles is by far my favorite…though all of the pictures are amazing! And I finally just read your list….you are truly an amazing person and inspiration!!!!

    12 March 2012 at 7:26 am Reply

The bubbles were such a fun thing for Sam – it got her warmed up with the smiles and giggles. Sam was playing with it in their back yard and Wendy just picked it up and took it with us. Smart photographers!

Jenny, I read your blog daily and continue to be inspired each day…THANK YOU. But I chose to comment on this one because of our shared love of photography. I can say from experience that your family was one of my very favorites to photograph precisely because of the amazing relationships that were on display. These photos captured the same thing I experienced…they are beyond beautiful. For future reference, I would be honored to be on your short list of choices when you are updating your family images annually (or semi-annually). : )

I’m still beyond thankful for the pictures that you took of the kids through Becky’s contest. Actually I smiled when I saw the second picture above, as it reminded me of the picture of all the shoes for our photo shoot with you where Sam was so shown with all the other legs/shoes. I’ll have to post that picture soon.
And you are surely on the list, Sheila. You are such a blessing to us. -J

Jenny these are gorgeous!!! If I HAVE to pick one, I’ll say any of the candids because it gives a glimpse of your family dynamic!

    12 March 2012 at 11:36 am Reply

The candids are most assuredly US. Totally agree Lisa.-J

My photos are my most beloved possessions, hands down…I can just imagine how much joy these give you! You all are one amazing family ~ what an incredible experience you will share this summer! If you happen to be anywhere close to central Illinois in your travels, I’d love to meet you! :) You are a true inspiration to me, Jenny…enjoy those beautiful, priceless photos!!

Thanks Marna Kay! I am really happy with how they turned out and I love the picture of all the shoes as well!

What beautiful pictures! The first thing I noticed is that you all did not wear the same color, which you usually see. I immediately thought of the rainbow… It made me smile so much, so much positivity.

Thanks Yvonne – we are not a matching time family. But I admit, we are loud. So pale or mellow colors wouldn’t do either. I have always love bright/bold colors. I never met a color I didn’t like.

Thanks Yvonne for stopping by. Have a fabulous day. – Jenny
