39 List- Host a Cupcake & Lemonade Stand with the Kids

One of the things I wanted to do before I turn 39 was to host a cupcake and lemonade stand with the kids. Well yesterday was the day… and it was amazing. The family agreed that it was a smashing success and that we should make this an annual Meyerson tradition.

I began this process with 3 goals: to have the kids involved, make it a small community affair, and donate 100% of the proceeds.

So right away I knew that I wanted to donate the proceeds to Miss Elizabeth Blair. Elizabeth is a young little warrior from our Central Phoenix corridor who is bravely defeating stage IV Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Her older brother was in preschool with my Emily 4 years ago. (more…)

Christmas Eve Cheer

Merry Christmas to all of you out there celebrating! I’m at my sister’s house for the weekend with 6 children who are presently shaking presents and getting ready to decorate gingerbread houses.

This video is a new tradition of advent activities we have started in our family this year. You can read more about them here.

Other traditions unique to our family include making Christmas tree cupcakes for school classmates, putting together a 1,000 piece puzzle, playing with the wooden nativity set, and watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Most bloggers take off the week between Christmas and New Years but I will check in with a couple of posts for my December Daily, Project Life,  and discuss my exciting (and intentional) plans for 2012.

Here’s wishing a safe and joyous week for all of you. – Jenny

Advent activities

I started 2 new traditions this December for our family – a December Daily journal and Advent activities. Instead of a piece of candy inside the wrapped box, I included an activity to do. The activities have been a hit with the kids and they get excited about taking turns opening the day’s box. It was important to Jeff and I that some of the activities were others centered this holiday season.

The advent boxes…

Our favorite activities so far:

Advent Boxes

Tomorrow is December 1st. Are you ready? I’ve been busy finishing up my advent boxes and arranging supplies for my first December daily album. In addition, I’m preparing for my Ben’s 10th birthday tomorrow and an early Hanukah weekend with Jeff’s side of the family. Our December is always filled to the brim.

With all that hustle it is easy to become frazzled. So I’m listening to Christmas music, drinking an iced tea, baking mocha cupcakes for my 52 cupcake series, and just working my way down my to do list. What needs to get done, will. And if it doesn’t, there is always another Christmas and Hanukah 12 months from now.
